Round-table: The Practice of Women’s Solidarity for a Life Without Violence

Members of the organization IZ KRUGAVOJVODINA, attended a event to mark 30 years of feminist work on eliminating male violence against women and establishing SOS phones for women and children victims of violence. Svjetlana Timotic, executive director of the Organization for Support of Women with Disabilities, contributed to the event by discussing violence against women with disabilities and their position in society.

The event was held on March 8, 2020, at the Belgrade Youth Center, which marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the SOS phone for women and children victims of violence and a feminist support group for women to overcome the situation of violence. In 1990, activists from the Feminist Group WOMEN AND SOCIETY established an SOS phone for women and children victims of violence in Belgrade, after several years of working and collaboration with feminist activists from Zagreb and Ljubljana.

The round-table sought to confirm the historical value of all SOS Telephone volunteers, to express their gratitude for their commitment and vision for a new world without violence against women.

Speakers at the event were: Lepa Mladenovic, Svjetlana Timotic, Nadezda Radovic, Stasa Zajovic and Vera Litricin.
