Representatives of the UN Foundation for Suppression Violence against Women visited … Iz Kruga — Vojvodina


Rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the UN Foun­da­tion for sup­pres­sion Vio­lence Against Women vis­it­edIZ KRUGAVOJVODINA (UN Trust Fund to end Vio­lence Against Women)  with­in the frame­work of the vis­it to the imple­menters of sup­port­ed projects from Ser­bia, they vis­it­ed the orga­ni­za­tion IZ KRUGA- VOJVODINA, as one of the fif­teen local part­ner orga­ni­za­tions of the Autonomous Women’s Cen­ter in Bel­grade in the imple­men­ta­tion of the project Zero Tol­er­ance on Gen­der Based Vio­lence.

The project Zero Tol­er­ance for Gen­der-Based Vio­lence is finan­cial­ly sup­port­ed by the Unit­ed Nations Foun­da­tion for the Sup­pres­sion of Vio­lence against Women, and is imple­ment­ed with the rec­om­men­da­tion of the Anti-Dis­crim­i­na­tion and Vio­lence Group of the Min­istry of Edu­ca­tion, Sci­ence and Tech­nol­o­gy. The project is being imple­ment­ed by the end of 2018 and the long-term goal is to increase the expe­ri­ence of young girls’ safe­ty from sex­u­al and gen­der-based vio­lence. Project activ­i­ties are imple­ment­ed in 15 cities in Ser­bia and include work in 30 sec­ondary schools and 8 fac­ul­ties. Key areas of action include work­ing with teach­ers, work­ing with young peo­ple to increase knowl­edge and per­form­ing pub­lic action, work­ing with fac­ul­ties in the field of pre­vent­ing sex­u­al harass­ment and con­duct­ing aware­ness cam­paigns.

IZ KRUGAVOJVODINA, as a local part­ner orga­ni­za­tion of the Autonomous Women’s Cen­ter, with­in the project Zero Tol­er­ance for Gen­der-Based Vio­lence, in 2016 and 2017, imple­ment­ed three-day work­shops with female stu­dents at two sec­ondary schools in Novi Sad: Med­ical School 7. April and High School Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj.

The results achieved with high school stu­dents are an increase in the recog­ni­tion of part­ner vio­lence, an increase in knowl­edge of forms of assis­tance and sup­port in the event of vio­lence, as well as the skills to con­vey the acquired knowl­edge of the unac­cept­abil­i­ty of vio­lence in school or com­mu­ni­ty.

The part­ner­ship with the Autonomous Women’s Cen­ter in the imple­men­ta­tion of the project Zero Tol­er­ance for Gen­der-Based Vio­lence has giv­en the orga­ni­za­tion IZ KRUGAVOJVODINA in the local area increased vis­i­bil­i­ty as an orga­ni­za­tion that deals with the pre­ven­tion of vio­lence and pro­motes the devel­op­ment of coop­er­a­tion with high schools and youth.
